Rogers Ignite TV: Reinventing Family Time

Rogers Ignite TV: Reinventing Family Time

We are a tight-knit family and because of that, we spend a lot of time just hanging out together. I didn’t think our time together could get better until I got Rogers Ignite TV and reinvented family time.

Spending time with the kids watching TV shows, movies, and sports has proven to be a great way for us to learn more about each other. Conversations have started based on what we’ve been watching and I think the kids, my husband, and I appreciate that because we want to be able to talk about anything with our kids.

Since we got Ignite TV late last year, I have watched my husband and oldest really grow closer over their shared love of sports. They are huge fans of the SportsApp which lets them know when the Leafs, Raptors, and the  Jays have games and they spend hours together learning about the teams, players, and stats within the app. My son is almost 11 and I know that right now he’s highly impressionable so I am more than happy to have him spend quality time with and look up to his dad.

We’re always looking for any excuse to catch up on our favourite movies so we love when our youngest chooses what to watch. We are currently obsessed with all the Jurassic Park movies as well as Transformers. All we have to say is “Transformers” into the voice remote and it searches across live TV,  On Demand, and Netflix to show us where to watch. We regularly rent movies from the comfort of our couches and if the kids are extra good and help out around the house, I let them stay up late and rent a movie before bedtime. I’ve noticed that the kids have also been learning about compromise during these family binge sessions because they need to decide on a movie together or they aren’t allowed to watch anything.

I even use  Ignite TV for some quality me-time. I do laundry all week and save the folding till the weekend—and with 4 kids in the house, you can imagine how much accumulates— so I can head upstairs to binge on my fav shows. Sometimes even the kids join in to help, but I secretly think it’s because they want to speak into the remote for me. This definitely has made laundry so much more enjoyable.

I am excited to see how our watching habits will evolve as we continue to grow as a family.

It’s wonderful that your son & hubby are enjoying their love of sports together with the SportsApp, it’s a terrific family bonding experience. I wish that we could get Rogers Ignite tv, unfortunately this service isn’t available in our area.

Lately, we’ve been watching old TV shows from our youth with our kids. It really gets them talking about how different times were back then. It’s a great way to connect. I don’t think Rogers is available for TV in our area but Ignite TV sounds wonderful.

I don’t think Ignite TV is available where I live as Rogers doesn’t service the north. I think my kids would love speaking into the remote too though if we did have it!
