Why I Love the PC Insiders Subscription Program

If I were to name off all the things that keep me loyal to a brand it would be easy: a reward system to thank me for my purchases, quality items, huge selection, and free delivery. The PC Insiders subscription program is all that and then some.

As an avid PC Optimum points collector, I often find myself making those impromptu trips to a Shoppers Drug Mart or Loblaws store to grab last minute purchases in order to capitalize on a points event.

I will never complain about those trips because they give me a thrill, but I am sure my kids would rather stay inside where it is warm and cozy. Thankfully, the PC Insiders program has come out with some pretty amazing benefits which I can totally take advantage of while still in my pajamas.

PC Insiders Subscription Program Perks and Benefits

As a PC Insiders subscriber, I now earn 20% back in PC Optimum points at participating stores on ALL purchases of PC Organics products, PC Black Label Collection , Joe Fresh branded products, all brands of baby diapers and formula, and on online orders of items in the Beauty Boutique Luxury Beauty section at shoppersdrugmart.ca and the galerie BEAUTE Beaute de luxe section at pharmaprix.ca. As if I needed an excuse to grab my fave things, now I get points back so that I redeem them to get even more.

I can sit back and shop from the comfort of home while still getting amazing perks like free shipping on online orders from joefresh.com and shoppersdrugmart.ca and I don’t have to pay pick up fees for PC Express orders. Sometimes it just makes sense to not run into the store and ordering through the PC Express gets your groceries delivered right to your car in your local store’s parking lot. The PC Insiders program also hooks annual subscribers up with a $99 PC travel services credit which will hopefully give you some incentive to book that trip you’ve been on the fence about. Maybe it’s time to cross another bucket list destination off of that list?

My Fave Part of the PC Insiders Program

My fave though? It’s the surprise box annual subscribers get once each year. I love getting surprises in the mail, don’t you?

This season’s box came full of sweet goodies to help make my home smell delicious while I churned out holiday baked goods. Recipe suggestions and even a little cheat sheet of must-try products reminded me that I needed to head into my local Loblaws store to pick up a few things. Or maybe I’ll just order online and take advantage of the no pickup fee for PC Express orders.

Surprisingly, this is the first I have heard of this and I am an AVID shopper at Real Canadian Superstore (Loblaws in Alberta). I will have to check it out.

So this is how to earn points on purchases – I have honestly been wondering! I only ever saw bonus points on certain items and wondered why I didn’t get points on the whole shop.

I always thought that the free program PC Optimum should be giving you points on all purchases. I spend weekly a lot of money in the store, but my points go up so slowly! Sounds good that they now have a program that rewards every purchase, but I find it a bit too expensive.

If we lived closer to a Superstore I’d join this in a heartbeat. Even though it’s only 20 – 25 minutes away we tend to shop at stores that are within 5 minutes.

I am the biggest PC points fan. I’ve earned thousands in rewards over the years and am very loyal. I did encounter an issue with the PC insiders program. The only part of the program I was really interested in was the $99 travel credit with PC travel. (I don’t have kids, or really shop the other categories like Joe fresh, organics, or grocery pickup etc.) I used PC travel last year to book a trip to Taiwan and it worked well. I showed them my best price, they matched it, and off I went. This Sunday I signed up for the PC insider subscription, waited the couple days for it to kick in, and went to expedia.ca and found a flight to Dubai including hotel. I took a screen shot and phoned up PC travel. I e-mailed the agent the screen shot from Expedia.ca and asked them to book the flight. I was told that they can’t match the expedia.ca price and they their price is about $120 more. I figured it was a rookie on night shift and thanked them and called back in the morning. I went through the same scenario with two more agents. They have a low price guarantee but refuse the match the price. I could use the $99 credit which I prepaid for, but what is the value of the program if the price they are charging for the price is more than $100 above MARKET. Expedia.ca is one of the biggest online travel sites in Canada. If they won’t match Expedia … who will they match?

I love getting PC points and using them towards getting my groceries now and again free just by cashing in points. I buy PC products regularly too. Now this program does sound interesting and I may just have to consider it. The discount code is a plus to entice me also! 🙂 I’ll strongly think about this. I have never used grocery pick up or shop online (I’m not sure it’s even available here in the Yukon). RCSS is one of the largest grocery stores in Whitehorse and where I shop the most. I will have to look into this more before considering a subscription/.
