Summer Fashion from Giant Tiger: Available Now

A few weeks ago I got to enjoy a lovely evening in downtown Toronto and check out the new women’s fashion from Giant Tiger. No, you didn’t read that wrong, Giant Tiger has women’s fashion and it is fantastic. While I have stopped into Giant Tiger before to grab baby stuff it never occurred to me to look at the clothes because let’s be honest, I haven’t heard about them having good clothes, let alone in Plus size like I need.

So there were a few things that happened when I went to the Giant Tiger event. My eyes were opened to the three lines of women’s wear that they were carrying and I was blown away that they were hip, stylish and most of all affordable. We may not be struggling when it comes to our finances but I often feel guilty when it comes time to spending money on myself and it needs to stop. A large part of this is the fact that most fashionable plus size clothing costs an arm and a leg and buying a white tee for $50 is just not a smart choice.

So new on the Giant Tiger roster are three brands: Lily Morgan™ (confident+stylish),  mySTYLE™ (casual + current) & ACX Active™ (active+life). I can’t stress enough how fashion-forward all three brands are, the pieces are very easy to put together and style, and even the accessories are great.

Last week I asked the kids to come with me to pick out some new clothes. I don’t know who was more excited me or the little ones but we were in a frenzy while shopping. While there were lots of options I knew I needed a casual outfit, a dressed-up outfit and then a dress that I could wear to a baby shower next month. With clear directions in hand, the kids and I went to town and came back with these 3 looks.

Above all I will not sacrifice comfort and sensibility for fashion, and this outfit is such a testament with that. These peep toe wedge espadrilles ($20) from Lily Morgan give me height while giving me stabilty so that when my toddler jumps into my arms I am not toppling over. This top ($16) is one on my favourites right now as well. With the chain straps it is both dressy and edgy and I love the layers of material. The light flowy material doesn’t hug my trouble spots and I love the design on it. Last in this look is the Jegging Capri Pant ($16) which lets be honest will be worn daily and multiple pairs may need to be bought.

Same jegging as above but this time paired with a blue knit mesh top ($18) that comes WITH the necklace. Makes looking good and accessorizing easy. Flats came in at $10 and will be going back to get some in every colour. Perfect little summer shoe.

Biggest surprise for me was this botanical dress ($20). I am most comfortable in leggings and tunics so when I saw this and was drawn to it I knew I couldn’t leave it. The discreet cut-out designs in the neck line spice it up a bit and it comes with a belt that hits at just the right spot. You can find a similar one here. My kids found these studded gladiator style sandals ($15) and we had an outfit for $35.

    I like the Lily Morgan Women’s Asymmetrical Top with Buckle. It’s cute and summery, not my usual style, but I think it would be flattering.
    I discovered Giant Tiger’s clothing last year and bought some shirts for $12. They’ve been worn so much and they last well.

    I’m lovin the Lily Morgan Women’s Plus Asymmetrical Top with Buckle. I’m pear shaped so this one would be lovely as casual or dress it up. I love GT’s clothing. I find more styles that work for me than anywhere else.

    I went to Giant Tiger this week and I just love them! I also bought flats since all of my old ones are worn down. I was pleasantly surprised by the offering that the store had. A bag of peppers for $1.97? You can’t beat it!
