Are you looking for daily tips to look and feel great in 2017? I know I am more than willing to get any and all the advice possible on how to make this year my best yet.

In the past I have always put myself last, not because I hate myself or feel like I am any less worthy of attention, but because there has always been so much ‘other’ things that had to happen that I ran out of time to focus on myself. It had to stop.

I have a vision for 2017 that involves me taking care of me first and foremost. It is not a selfish thing to want to be the best version of one’s self and I am going to own my self-worth this year.

There will be a few posts in the coming weeks on how I am making this year all about becoming the best ME but to start is some tips on how to get control of it TODAY.

After too many holiday treats or late-nights catching up with friends and family at holiday gatherings, you may be left feeling more frazzled than fresh! The good news is that it’s relatively easy to get back on track. January is the perfect time to commit to new habits to help you look and feel great. For example:

  • Stay Hydrated
    • One of the simplest fixes you can make to your beauty routine is to swap out pop for water. Experts say drinking water can help prevent dehydration-induced wrinkles. This is big for me. I crave cola like it’s nobody’s business. I am putting a fancy sparkling water maker on my list of must-have products to get healthy this year.
    • TIP: Try setting reminders in your calendar to fill up your glass with water every couple hours. Give it a couple weeks, and it will become routine!

  • Stay Moisturized
    • Silky smooth skin is the first step in a beauty routine. I have been using this not only on my skin but also on my feet to get rid of the crazy cracks and I am happy to say that all but one are gone.     • TIP: Make it part of your shower routine to moisturize. After a hectic day, the shower may feel like a relaxing oasis. Extend that feeling by taking the time to moisturize after each shower.

    • If you get less than six hours sleep, it’s likely affecting your appearance and you may notice wrinkles, dark circles or puffy eyes. It even changes your facial expressions; you tend to furrow your brow and frown more when you’re tired. As my kids get older they are sleeping through the night more and more. I have a tendency to go to bed at 1 AM every day but have been making a conscious effort to try and get a few nights in with an 11 PM bedtime.
    • TIP: Set an alarm for bed time. You set an alarm to get out of bed in the morning. Use the same approach to make sure you get to bed early enough at night!

  • Enjoy more good hair days
    • While in the winter you can hide under toques and scarves, January is the time to start thinking about your spring hair. When the weather warms up your mane will be on full display. You should take steps now to be ready.     Thanks for the great post, I always put myself last as well and look after everyone else, I never knew about the PRIORIN and would really like to try it out, as I get older I notice my hair is also thinning out too, not good!

    Me too. When I brush my hair I notice a lot ends up on my brush. Can’t wait to see the results of this

    These tips are really awesome. I am particularly fond of setting an alarm to go to sleep – smart!
    Hydration is also a goal for me this year. I drink too much coffee and tea (and wine) and not enough water. I’m curious about those hair pills. I have such dry / frieze hair, I wonder if it will help!!!

    There are some very great reminders here. But what caught my attention was PRIORIN. My hair is so thin and hubby is starting to thin too. I have never heard of PRIORIN. Off to see if Well.ca can ship us some. LOL we could use some re-growth around here.

    I started drinking water in my late 20’s and I’ve never looked back and as a matter of fact I only drink water. When I started drinking water instead of ice tea and kool aid I literally lost 30 pounds because I got rid of all that sugar. It’s definitely made me a healthier person but I’ve always had thin hair so maybe the PRIORIN would help.
