Combating Skin Redness with Eau Thermale Avène Antirougeurs

Eau Thermale Avène Antirougeurs

I received the products mentioned in this post for free. The experience I had with them is 100% my real opinion.

I learned that I can tackle skin redness with the Eau Thermale Avène Antirougeurs lineup this month. I’ve always been trying to tackle the dryness aspect of my skin and never thought to do double-duty and deal with the redness as well.

My last skincare routine was really great for tackling the dryness but I’m getting older and I know genetically I am predisposed to sun spots and broken capillaries thanks to my momma.

I have very light skin and I have always had pink/red undertones to my complexion. I absolutely hate getting my skin swatched at the cosmetics counters because the products that the cosmeticians come back with are usually a pink shade of beige. It makes me feel self-conscious and with my whole family’s tan complexions I really see the redness in photos. Couple that with extreme dryness and I was over the moon to discover this line up from Eau Thermale Avène.

The first step to tackling my red came by changing up my cleansing routine. I am used to washing off my cleanser so I was pleasantly surprised that I could leave Antirougeurs Clean on my face. It’s both a cleansing lotion and a makeup remover that doesn’t leave my skin tight and aching for some moisture. On days where I wear no makeup I am always amazed at the amount of gunk that comes off on the cotton pad.

After the morning cleanse I double up with the Antirougeurs Day cream and the Ultra-Light Mineral Lotion High Protection SPF 50+ cream. Taking small steps now to help treat and prevent the redness + sunspots is my best bet and I am loving that even though I am using two different creams they both absorb quickly and don’t leave a tacky feeling. The Antirougeurs day cream has an enhanced Ruscus extract that diffuses redness and the sunscreen has no chemical filter or fragrance, making it ideal for those of us with sensitive and dry skin.

I do have two favourites in the Antirougeurs line and if I were to have only two products it would be these two.

Eau Thermale Avène Antirougeurs

Firstly is the Calm redness-relief soothing mask. I love masks but only if I can see and feel results instantly. I do masks for emergency treatments and when my face is feeling especially irritated and Calm comes to the rescue. It’s pale blue formula is very light and although it’s a mask I almost feel like it goes right to work uncovering your skins true beauty.

Formulated with Hesperidine Methyl Chalcone (HMC) to target facial redness and the combination of TRP-Regulin™ and Avène Thermal Spring Water calm red skin due to dryness  I love waiting for my skin to absorb this mask. The formula also contains Pangomia oil which helps to maintain the moisture of the skins ecosystem and helps keep my dry skin in check.

The second product that I love is Antirougeurs Fort. It is a concentrated cream that deals with chronic redness and where other products have not made a difference this cream does. You can physically see the red diminishing and the tiny capillaries in the skin shrinking away. Meant for targeted treatment I prefer to keep this miracle worker in my purse for on-the-go spot treatment.

Also in my purse now is the green concealer stick which I was initially hesitant to use. Weirdly enough I watched an episode of Queer Eye where they recommend a green concealer stick for a man and their piece of advice was if you can see the green you’ve used too much. With that same advice I went head first into green concealer stick usage and I don’t see myself going back. It doesn’t mean you need to put on a full face of make up (on the contrary) and makes going out ‘au natural’ a lot easier.
