I can’t be the only one who has purchased and subsequently moved rugs into places where they can’t be seen because they get stained. I dreamed of a living space that has not only our hardwood but also our rugs but I wasn’t willing to spend extra time maintaining the cleanliness of rugs. With four kids and two dogs, we needed a machine that would not only give our rugs a good clean but also tackle our hardwood and tile floors. That machine is the Bissell CrossWave All-in-One Multi-Surface Wet Dry Vac.

The Bissell CrossWave is this amazing two-in-one vacuum that not only mops your floors but also vacuums up loose debris at the same time. When little Suzy drops her bowl of cereal and milk you will be able to effortlessly run the unit over it getting the deep clean you want without sacrificing time.

Compared to the bigger Bissell unit I have under the stairs, the new CrossWave unit is fairly light at 11lbs. Keeping in mind that this is a mop, vacuum, and area rug washer I think you are getting a lot of bang packed into those 11 lbs. 

Another upgrade I noticed is that there are two different tanks so that the clean and dirty water are kept separate. You can easily see when you are running low on cleaning solution and actually see all the nasty dirt your machine sucks up in front, plus you can hear when the dirty tank is full. Don’t forget the filter that keeps things under control. You can easily rinse it and allow to dry or 24 hours.

The controls are conveniently placed on the handle for ease of use and although there are two different rolls, one for rugs and a dual actions brush roll, you can easily use the dual action to do the whole house, floors and rugs.

What I realized when I finally took the CrossWave to my rug is that you never really forget how to clean rugs. Four swipes of putting solution down and four equal swipes pulling up and I very quickly realized that I should have thrown our rugs out years ago…I’m joking! I should have just started washing them regularly with the CrossWave, especially since I bought them specifically for my kids to play on them. This particular rug belonged to my husband’s grandma when he was a child and has made it this long and over from Iran. I washed the left side with the Crosswave to see the difference and you can really see in the white centers the difference. 

Safe and effective for use on tile, sealed wood floors, carpet, rugs, laminate, linoleum, rubber floor mats, pressed wood floors, and more I appreciate the fast cleaning and no dirty mop bucket to put my equally dirty mop into. With the Crosswave you put the clean solution on the floor in one swipe and come back over it with the spinning brush roll to suck up all the dirt, debris and yucky water in another. 

I do like the way it easily leans in any direction making the swivel steering a breeze. The different rolls are easily interchangeable and you can also clean them by using the tray that comes in the box. I really like the added detail of having somewhere to dry to rolls after washing.

Before I read the unit I read the reviews to get an idea of how the unit performed and what people were saying it could improve on. The highest ranking complaint was that the rotating roll does leave a small gap on the sides where it does not get to when cleaning. I remedied this issue by driving the unit towards the wall instead of perpendicular to it. The front of the unit does an amazing job of meeting the wall where the sides may miss. From experience, I find most complaints that we have about products not working the way we want them to is because we are not using the unit as intended.

This unit does come with a small sample bottle of solution to use as well. Bissell only recommends you use cleaners meant for the machine but I do wonder whether you can just use water to clean your floors. They also offer solutions for just hardwood, just rugs or the multi-purpose as shown. 

We got the regular unit which can be purchased directly from Bissell or other retailers that sell vacuums. You can also purchase off of Amazon.ca but I have found that the Bissell.ca site actually has the best price at the time of writing this post.
