5 Tips to Making Diaper Changes Go Smoothly

I have been changing diapers for 20 years and am going to share some tips on how to make diaper changes go smoothly. Diapers have changed a lot since I first started honing my diapering skills on my little brother. I remember slathering on the Vaseline and ruining the tabs that were sticky so that the diaper would not close way too many times. Today’s diapers are thankfully at a whole new level.

5 Tips to Making Diaper Changes Go Smoothly

  1. Be realistic and set up stations where you will be doing diaper changes. I live in a 2 floor home and I change diapers in 2 locations: on the living room couch and on my bed. So I have a Ikea storage box under my nightstand and a storage ottoman by my couch where I hide all the essentials. I also have all of the essentials in my diaper bag too.
  2. Always have a change of clothes available. Blow outs, mid-change pee’s & poos and just being dirty are a real thing and what better time to change your little one than when you are already getting them undressed. When I am putting away laundry I make sure I always put a clean pair of clothes for both Aria & Cyrus in each of my stations.
  3. Lotions, creams, powders…OH MY! This is something you don’t want to be looking for with a naked baby perched on a change table, bed or couch. Most likely if you need to use these your baby is already in pain from a diaper rash and you do not want to worsen the situation by spending precious time trying to find cream for your little one’s wee bum.Huggies® Little Movers Plus
  4. Buy diapers and wipes in bulk to save time and money. There is absolutely nothing worse than running out of diapers or wipes and having to constantly have to buy them. For most of my diapering career we have had two kids in diapers at once so when I say BULK I mean it. Thankfully Costco Wholesalers has you covered. When you come home open the box and put a sleeve of diapers and package of wipes in each station.
  5. Buy high quality diapers and wipes like Huggies® Little Snugglers Plus Diapers, Huggies® Little Movers Plus Diapers and Huggies® Natural Care® Plus wipes.Huggies Little Movers Plus

For our newest addition Cyrus we buy the Little Snugglers Plus. These diapers are Huggies®’ most absorbent diaper* and provide up to 12 hours of dryness while cushioning your baby in ultra-softness. I promise you, when your newborn finally starts to get some good hours of continuous sleep happening the last thing you want (or need) is a wet diaper waking them up. Blow outs are a no-go with the pocketed back waist band so enjoy your much-needed shut eye. A pocketed  GentleAbsorb® Liner provides a barrier between your baby and the messes they make and a wetness indicator so you know if baby needs to be changed.

Aria, our toddler, gets Huggies® Little Movers Plus Diapers. She is constantly on the go and we need a diaper that will adapt to not only her movements but also works well. At 30 lbs my toddler is a big girl and drinks milk ALL THE TIME. I love that the diaper I put her to sleep in doesn’t have to get changed until we wake up. My mattress is also singing its praises as I have not had to sleep in a wet spot for months (Aria sleeps with me). The Plus line of Huggies® is the most absorbent* and with the new Dry/Touch liner you can rest assured knowing that all that sleep is not leaving your monkey with a diaper rash in the morning. With all the moving Aria does I am so happy that diapers have progressed past the sticky closures of the 90’s into what the Little Movers have: Double Grip Strips!! Snug and secure but also very comfortable.

Huggies® Little Snugglers Plus Diapers, Huggies® Little Movers Plus Diapers and Huggies® Natural Care® Plus wipes are available exclusively at Costco wholesalers. Both the Little Snugglers and Little Movers are available in sizes 1-6 and come with adorable Mickey & Friends designs.
