Ooka Island: A Subscription Helps Your Kids Excel

ooka island

I have said it time and time again that there NEEDS to be some space for practical gifts during the holidays. The gifts that will keep on giving long after the wrapping paper is unwrapped and ones that will not be thrown to the side and discarded. One of our favourites is Ooka Island.

Whether you want to prep your little one before they start school or you have just received your progress reports and see that they need some work in their reading skills this is one of our favourite programs to use. We have tried a tutor before for our kids and managing schedules and the cost involved were just not feasible for us.

While we could have made it work cost wise by moving priorities around we are not the kind of family that does well with schedules as things always come up, and I hated having to clean up before she came. So we got Ooka Island and the kids can fit it in whenever they want, anywhere they want.

On the island, your child is a hero, tasked with finding missing books and helping Ooka Elves learn how to read. While on their adventure, our reading program teaches them skills through 24 levels of educational games – like summiting Alphabet Mountain or spelunking in the Cave of Sounds and by reading 85 levelled eBooks in the Popcorn Library.

Although I am pretty sure my kids spend an equal amount of time on the island my daughter is actually ahead of my son. The game adapts to your kid’s strengths and sends me a weekly progress report on how they are doing.  Best part though? They don’t want to get off and I won’t force them because although fun it is improving their reading skills and I can get behind that.

To get a free trial of Ooka Island please check out their website. You can also buy subscriptions right on the site for use. They have the app available on iTunes and the Play Store and it can also be played on the computer.

Ooka Island Giveaway
