VTech Big Ticket Items for the 1-5 Age Group

Lights, sounds and movement. This is basically the trifecta of success when it comes to toys that intrigue and hold the attention of most kids. As a parent, I will deem a toy worthwhile that has these things AND is not annoying. These toys from VTech meet the criteria. Some of the oldest toys in our home are VTECH (visit website). They have stood the test of time and constant play by four kids and are still relevant to their play times.

Go! Go! Smart Wheels Treasure Mountain Train Adventure—This is one of the bigger sets in our home right now and that’s a good thing because all four kids want to play with it at once (and they can) At over 4 ft wide it comes with tracks that can be easily arranged either on a whim or following one of the provided instructions. Although the motorized train with detachable cart is the piece de resistance I am inclined to say the crane and little gate were a close second and third place.   

As the train choo-choo’s along the track it hits 9 SmartPoints that set off phrases, music and more and the kids all take turns tapping the blocks into the mine shaft, sorting the shape blocks into the cargo car, and just having a good time together. Plus, it’s durable enough to handle our 1.5-year-old dropping on it a million and one times when the older kids won’t let him in on the action and he won’t take no for an answer.

VTech Go! Go! Smart Friends Enchanted Princess Palace—My younger daughter is one of those kids who plays with her dolls for hours at a time. She has been forced to play house with her older brother’s superhero playsets because that is all we had so this year I vowed to get her a castle. When we were offered this to review for our gift guide I didn’t realize just how amazing it was going to be. 

Another one of the BIG playsets from VTech this is also over 4 ft wide although it does fold together when not in use to a smaller, more manageable area. I am almost embarrassed (almost) by the amount of time Aria has spent exploring this castle and it’s many rooms.  Princess Darla talks and sings when her button is pushed or if she is placed on the MagicPoint locations within the castle. You can also buy other Go!Go! Smart Friends to compliment and expand this already large kingdom.

Care for Me Learning Carrier—Bringing a pet into an already hectic household is not for the faint of heart. I can not tell you how many times a day I clean dog food that my youngest has tried to bring to the dog, especially when the dog is not hungry. Or the fact that my wood floor is actually bubbling up because of the times the dog bowl has been spilt in an attempt to hydrate our pup.

So instead we have offered the kids this little guy, his carrier, and his play/food items. The interactive carrier allows them to bring pup out and about and the carrier teaches them colours, shapes, pet care, all while delighting with lights!

These toys from VTech are great gifts for the 1-5 age group that pack a big punch into a small price tag. I noticed that Amazon.ca often has sales on these guys so if you are looking to buy keep your eyes (and browser) open!
