TWELVElittle Companion Backpack — The Best Diaper Bag

TWELVElittle Companion Backpack — The Best Diaper Bag
This post is in partnership with TWELVElittle. The diaper bag was gifted to us in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are 100% our own.

Over the past 10 years, we have had our fair share of diaper bags but none have been as beautiful and multifunctional as the TWELVElittle Companion Backpack. Although we are well into potty training our little guy refuses to use public toilets so we are still using training undies when we go out.

Actually, with four kids we always need a bag to bring along ALL OF THE THINGS. You know the things: wipes, sunscreen, snacks, little toys to keep them entertained, the emergency tablet fully loaded with downloaded Netflix episodes to give mom and dad a few minutes of sanity while out and about.

It was love at first sight with the Blush Pink Companion Backpack. I don’t know whether it was the pink quilted (and waterproof nylon) fabric that got me or the rose gold accents, but it made me step away from the traditional neutrals I usually stuck to and head in a more feminine way. Throw in some genuine leather trim and this bags attention to fine detail is like no other. There are 7 other colours available like Black, Pewter, Camo print, Leopard print, Wine, Platinum, and Olive but the pink has my heart.

An added bonus with the quilting is that it is a lot more gentle on your back and shoulders. You’re already carrying around a baby, you don’t need the diaper bag to put a strain on your back as well.

When it comes to function thought, that is where the Companion Backpack really excels. First I want to talk about the exterior of the bag and ALL of the different storage options. The front of the bag has two zippered compartments. The bottom zipper compartment is large enough for a wallet but I like to keep my wipes in it for easy access.

Discreetly hidden within is also a keychain ring so that you are not aimlessly digging in your bag for your keys. At the front of the bottom compartment is a pocket with a magnet that you can easily slip items in and it self-closes.

The top zipper compartment is fairly deep and that is where I have been putting my phone and my son’s cars. It is where I put my items that are constantly needed but also need to be put away quickly.

On either side of the backpack are two insulated bottle pockets. We keep a sippy cup on one side and mama’s coffee in the other although if you are planning longer trips you can use them just for your LO’s beverages.

Inside there is 2 pockets on either side—2 slip pockets and also two elastic pockets—so that you can easily compartmentalize the items in your bag. I can easily roll an outfit for my kids and fit them into these pockets and it leaves the large interior of the bag available for whatever else we need for our days’ excursions. In case you need another zippered compartment, fret not, you have one more inside the bag as well.

The water-resistant exterior extends to the inside and I love the neutral gray interior detail with white polka dots. It balances out the blush pink so well and you even have a foldable changing pad in the same pattern housed within the bag.

Something I am really appreciating as a more experienced parent though is the “Dirty Little Secret” pocket that is located at the bottom of the back panel. It’s a place to discretely store dirty clothes, diapers, or anything else you don’t want to be seen when you open up your bag. This would have come in super handy when we were cloth diapering but it is actually where I am storing my wallet so that it is not easily accessible.

Final Thoughts on the Companion Backpack

From the moment I got this bag and started using it people have been complimenting me on it because it looks like a really cool and stylish backpack. When I tell them that it is a diaper bag they are genuinely interested in seeing more. The $208 CAD price tag is midrange and I really like that even after all our kids are out of diapers and I no longer have to carry around sippy cups I can use this as a bag for myself. If I can pry it out of my daughter’s jealous hands first.

I just love this style. Who would even thing it is a diaper bag. The places it could go without having to be slung over one shoulder!

This is so stylish. I love the idea of a backpack as a diaper bag as it seems more practical and more comfy

It looks very well designed. I especially appreciate that little clip for my keys. I always think I’ve lost them.

My sister just had a baby, and she needs this great backpack with all its compartments for diapers and the tons of baby stuff she carts around with her all the time!

I was thinking that it would be perfect for my niece but I’m wondering if it can go in the washing machine? Being such a light colour – and that price, I’d like to see it last for a while!
