MEtoWE: Gifts That Can Change the World

Gifts That Can Change The World

Sharing some great gift ideas for those who want to give gifts that can change the world, like those from MEtoWE.

I think it’s fair to say that we’ve all heard of WE. WE is the brainchild of Craig, Marc and Roxanne Kielburger that brings together initiatives to make doing good, doable.  Through programs like WE Schools, WE Charity, and WE Day, the WE movement empowers change all while providing resources to create a sustainable impact.

Their ME To WE line is a personal fave for our family. They offer experiences and products that are socially conscious and do so through artisanal products, partnerships and immersive volunteer trips.

When you donate to WE 90% of your donations support one of their programs, while the other 10% goes to cover administrative fees.

MEtoWE: Gifts That Can Change The World

WE Villages’ partners with rural communities in nine countries such as Kenya, India, Equador, China, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Nicaragua, Haiti and Ethiopia. They work at breaking the cycle of poverty by focusing on the five Pillars of Impact: Education, Water, Health, Food and Opportunity. Every gift or donation someone makes to WE goes through the WE Villages model to make a positive impact in one of those pillars.

Education

When children are educated they are armed with the self-confidence to better themselves and their families. The ME to WE Chocolate (12-pack $59.88) taste so good (because they’re made with Ecuador’s prized national cacao bean, Fino de Aroma) and also give educational impacts to schools in Ecuador. Now you can indulge in a good cause 🙂

The Semiprecious collection – Rafiki bracelet – Labradorite ($50symbolizes transformation & wisdom. Made with glass beads, semiprecious stones and accented with 24 k gold-plated brass beads it is a statement piece.  Each piece also gives the gift of education to a child, nurturing growth and wisdom around the world.

 Water

Keeping families healthy starts with access to clean sources of water. ME to WE Coffee ($13) is a sustainably grown, ethically sourced and artisan crafted single origin java from Ecuador. Each bag purchased also gives clean water to a family–A WHOLE FAMILY.

The beautiful Intention series necklace – Lapis lazuli – dream ($35) shares a positive sentiment. This necklace features ethically sourced semiprecious beads, connected to a unique meaning to resonate with your recipient’s personal journey. This lapis lazuli necklace symbolizes creativity and truth, and gives clean water to a person in a developing community.

Health

When children are healthy they’re less likely to miss school or drop out. This Make An Impact Health Rafiki ($10) provides people with access to health care. When my oldest daughter is choosing gifts for her friends, she always gravitates towards a Rafiki  (Rafiki means ‘friend’ in Swahili). Made with gorgeous colourful glass beads threaded onto a stretchy 48″ cord these can be worn as either a bracelet, necklace, anklet or whatever you can think of.

Food

If female farmers had the same resources as male farmers, up to 150 million more people would be fed.  This Colour Pop Bracelet in teal ($12.00) is made by a mama in Kenya and provides food. Glass beads and brass accents come together with an adjustable pull closure.

Opportunity

With workshops on running successful farms and businesses, families have what they need to become empowered. This on-trend Bar Drop Choker $30.00 has a hanging brass bar to add a unique touch to a classic leather choker–it also provides a financial opportunity to a Kenyan woman.

A WE giftcard lets you shop for others while allowing others to choose their impact. They can support sustainable change by donating to WE Charity’s local and global programs or do good by purchasing ME to WE products and experiences, like Rafiki Bracelets or contributing towards their ME to WE Trip. Choose from 4 fun designs. Your recipient will receive an e-mail including your personal message and a code to redeem the next time they shop or donate. To learn more about the WE Card, visit we.org/giftcard.

Donating To WE

If you donate before December 1st, you can double your impact thanks to the matching program in place. One of WE’s generous donors will match your donation to increase the impact and help families receive the tools they need to lift themselves out of poverty. This sounds like such a great charity and we can all help charities of some kind. Right now I help 4 different charities one for kids, 2 for animals and one to help homeless women. But this sounds like a great charity and you get something for giving which is awesome

Me to We is a wonderful charity and a great way to give back. 10% goes to cover administrative fees is a minimal deduction compared to the Red Cross. In 2016, Canadian Red Cross’s fundraising costs were 19% of donations and administrative costs were 15% of total revenues.
