Levana® Shiloh™ 5” Video Baby Monitor Review

Levana® Shiloh™ 5” Video Baby Monitor Review

I am really excited to do a Levana® Shiloh™ 5” Video Baby Monitor review right now because my kids are all in a magical place where they are independent but can’t be trusted to be silent. You know the phase—the one where they are happy to upstairs and play independently but they very well may be dumping all your pricey shampoo in the bathtub or colouring on the walls.

The Shiloh™ baby monitor from Levana® is just what I need to be able to relax while the kids are out of sight.

First thing I notice without even taking the Shiloh™ out of the box is the impressive 5″ touchscreen monitor. This set comes with one camera but you can add up to 4 so that you can view multiple spaces or different angles of the same kid. The screen allows you to have a 50/50 split screen view which is ideal if you maybe have 2 kids that you need watched and so they can have a camera each.

Right out of the box the Shiloh™ is extremely easy to set up and user-friendly. Included in the box are the camera, monitor, battery, 2 power cords, instructions, mounting hardware and a card that gives you a free 2-year warranty if you leave a review on the Levana website. Once you insert the battery into the monitor you plug both the monitor and camera into a power supply. Turn both of these on by pressing the power switches and you are ready to pair the devices. It’s as easy as pushing the ‘pair’ button on the camera and you can move on to getting an easy tutorial on the monitor.

Once you input the time you are given a brief overlook of the features that Shiloh™ has. The monitor is fully charged after 3.5 hours and has a 12-hour battery life once unplugged from the power source. That means I can finally tackle the mess in the basement without worrying about the kids waking up and not being able to find me. By the off chance that they do wake up I can use the Talk to Baby™ feature to soothe them from where ever I may be. It’s a two-way communication system that is clear on both sides so I can not only listen to them snore away but also have them hear me if they are up to no good.

The Shiloh™ will become a new mom’s best friend with its many programmable options. From the little things like ensuring the baby’s nursery is the right temperature (and alerting you if it gets too hot or cold) to the customizable feeding and nap timer, no detail is left untouched.

I remember when I first had my kids I had to keep a journal on what time they ate and kept a hair tie on my wrist to remind me what side they last fed on. With the Shiloh™ you can set a timer to either remind you audibly or with on-screen alerts that it is time to feed, go for a nap, and even what side baby last fed on. Now if only it could do our laundry as well.

I was impressed in the daytime but the real test had to be at night time. Would I be able to go down to the basement for extended periods of time for the first time in 5 years? Would I actually be able to hear them if they woke up? Would the camera keep them up with flashing lights?

When we turned off the lights for bedtime the first thing I noticed was that I didn’t notice anything. The Shiloh™ stays perfectly dark at night time thanks to the invisible LED night vision ensuring the kids are not kept up with any lights. Even though there are no visible lights on the outside of the camera the vision is crystal clear thanks to invisible infrared LEDs and up to 12 feet away.
