Sweet Dreams With a Bedtime Routine

Bedtime. Bedtime Routine

If you cringed at that then you have more than likely had to face the struggle of putting kids to bed recently. You may even be scarred from the task many years ago.

Sleep is essential for both mom and baby. In order to be physically, emotionally and cognitively healthy we need to ensure that we get enough rest. Easier said than done. That’s why there are things out there like sleep therapy to help those who struggle to go to sleep easily.

If you have been around here for a while you know that I put four kids to bed at once in ONE bed. I have been doing bedtime for eight years now and I can tell you the one thing that has made it all possible is a bedtime routine.

Importance of a Good Bedtime Routine

Johnson’s® is the #1 baby skin care brand and they have developed a new line of Bedtime products to help babies get to sleep and stay sleeping. Paraben free, dermatologist tested, hypoallergenic and compatible with skins natural pH are all true when it comes to this Bedtime line so you can rest assured that baby is getting only the best. This is a win-win for everyone because we all know how hard it is to “mom” on little to no sleep. I have been known to snap like a twig in a puddle of tears when the days were long and nights full of crying–both moms and baby’s.

A good bedtime routine and one that starts early is imperative to make sure everyone is happy.

The Right Environment for Bedtime

Just like with anything you do the environment has to be right to succeed. With bedtime there are a few things to consider to ensure that your little one is getting a good nights rest.

Temperature: Do not put the temperature up in the baby’s room. A cool environment is easier to sleep in and if you are worried about the baby getting cold put on a footed onesie.
Lighting: Turn off the lights. Trust me when I say the baby does not need a nightlight. The sooner they get used to sleeping in the dark the better.
Surface: Baby’s should be sleeping on a firm, flat surface and pillows and blankets are not necessary.

Johnson’s® 3-Step Bedtime Routine

With summer here and us not being as strict with bedtime for the older kids it is still important for us to get the younger ones in bed. At one and two years old they have absolutely no perception of time and so they rely heavily on a routine. I can tell my daughter that we are getting ready for bed but I don’t actually think she believes me unless she hears the bath running.

Bath-This is the kicker in our household. I sometimes wonder if our bath has magical powers because of just how easily the little ones crash after. It may not be magic but I do think that the Johnson’s® Bedtime® Baby Bath is a big part of getting us from bath to sleep in 10 minutes flat. Scented with NaturalCalm® aromas that are both soothing and gentle the formula smells divine. Like even our older daughter jumped in the bath because it smelled so good, something she runs from usually because the little ones insist on giving her a bath.

Massage-Just like we like to have our bodies massaged after a long day baby’s want it too. It helps them fall asleep and that same divine smell in the Baby Bath is in the Johnson’s® Bedtime® Lotion. Baby skin loses moisture faster than adult skin so it’s a good thing that the Bedtime lotion is made with hydrating emollients that help moisturize all night long.

Quiet Time-Story time, songs or just talking to your baby quietly help them to drift off into a deep slumber. It may even put you too sleep which is not such a bad thing.

JOHNSON’S® Tonight We Sleep™ Challenge

As if all these tips were not great enough Johnson’s has developed a Bedtime® sleep app that will answer your questions, let you track baby’s sleep and give you a sleep score. To download this helpful resource check out the site here.

Getting control over bedtime is easy, especially with the help of Johnson’s® Bedtime® line of products.

we love Johnson’s and with us as well it is part of a bedtime routine which is very important! Bedtime routines are important for all babies and kids but especially for my oldest who is autistic she is all about routine. After bath which we do use Johnson’s, we then use Johnson’s lotion to moisten them up before bed. 🙂 I love that it doesnt feel oily and absorbs into their skin very well
