How to Take Care of Those Neglected Body Parts

How to Take Care of Those Neglected Body Parts

Most of us like to think that we take good care of our health and wellbeing, but for as much as we spend time eating a healthy diet and taking care of our teeth, there are other parts of our bodies that we do not give so much care and attention to. It’s time to change that!

Give Your Poor Feet a Break

You stand, you walk, you run (occasionally?), and your feet just take it—day after day—without much of a thank you. When was the last time you even looked at them, let alone treated them to something nice? Give them a good soak, rub on some lotion, trim those nails before they rival a velociraptor’s, and if something’s actually painful or off, consider seeing a foot doctor. Seriously, your feet shouldn’t feel like they’re auditioning for a medieval torture scene.

Ears: They’re Not Just Hat Holders

When was the last time you properly cleaned your ears? I’m not talking about jamming cotton swabs in there like you’re digging for oil. (Don’t do that, by the way.) Show your ears some gentle TLC and nurse them back to good health. Clean them safely according to your doctor’s recommendations. Maybe invest in a little ear irrigation kit if you’re feeling fancy. And if you’ve got earwax the size of a marble, don’t be shy—get professional help. Trust me, you don’t want to miss out on the subtle nuances of your favorite Netflix show’s soundtrack.

Elbows and Knees Need Love, Too

Dry, flaky elbows and knees: it’s like your body’s way of waving tiny white flags, begging for moisture. Stop ignoring them. Grab a decent exfoliator and a thick moisturizer and give these jointy bits a much-needed spa day. They’re the reason you can bend and move like a human, not a rigid action figure. At least show some gratitude with a dollop of lotion.

Underarms, It’s More Than Just Deodorant

Sure, you slap on deodorant or antiperspirant every morning (I hope?), but do you ever think about what’s really going on in those pits? A gentle exfoliation once in a while can help remove dead skin cells and help you smell fresher longer. Maybe switch up your deodorant game if you’re stuck in a rut. Experiment, get fancy, embrace scents that don’t bring to mind a high school gym locker.

The Forgotten Neck and Behind-the-Ears Zone

Facial skincare is all the rage, but your neck and the area behind your ears deserve a little attention, too. These spots can accumulate sweat, dirt, and who knows what else. Give them a good cleanse and maybe a light moisturizer. Your future self, sporting a scarf or a low-cut top, will silently thank you.

Don’t Forget Your Hands—They’ve Seen Some Things

Your hands are like overworked assistants who never complain. They open jars, type emails, and fix your hair all day long. Regularly applying hand cream and cutting those gnarly cuticles can make you feel at least a teeny bit like you’ve got your life together. Bonus points for sunscreen—yes, on your hands—because no one wants prematurely wrinkled mitts.
