Furniture Layout Mistakes that Could be Impacting Your Home

Furniture Layout Mistakes that Could be Impacting Your Home

Are you making a mistake with your home’s furniture? Find out here.

Not Having Enough Tables

If you have a very small room then you might find that you simply can’t fit a table in. On the flip side, you may have a table that is so full of trinkets that you can’t even put your coffee down. Either way, if your home is like this then you are making a mistake. You want your living space to feel comfortable at the end of the day,  and the best way to do this would be for you to make sure that there’s enough space to live.

Making Seats Hard to Access

Another huge mistake that people make is that they make their seats hard to access. If you can’t pull a chair out because something is blocking it or if you can’t seem to sit down without knocking into the coffee table then you need to change your layout. Choosing a circular table is a good way for you to free up space, especially if you can get one that has a central pole supporting the top, rather than four individual legs.

Poorly-Sized Rugs

If you have a rug in your living room then this is great, but you do need to make sure that you size it properly.  Your rug should tuck under the sofa just slightly, and it should also extend beyond the halfway point of the room. If you have your seats set up for conversation, or if all seats are facing each other then this is great. With that in mind, you do need to make sure that the rug doesn’t extend beyond where it should. If it does then you may find that the room looks odd and awkward, which is the last thing you need.

Poor Spacing

It’s important to ensure that your furniture isn’t too far apart from each other. If you are working with a very large room then it may be that you cut off certain parts of it for an individual purpose. Have an armchair in the corner of the room with a bookshelf so you can unwind. Another thing you can do is opt for a corner sofa to shut off one part of the room so you can watch television or unwind with a cup of coffee. Add a coffee table and before you know it, you’ll have a great space where everyone can sit and relax without having to shout across the room.

Covering your Radiators

Make sure that the radiators within your home are not covered or blocked. At the end of the day, it is very easy for you to overlook things like this when you are trying to find out where your sofa should go, but if you are blocking your radiators then this will stop warm air from circulating. If possible, you need to place a shelf above your radiator, so you can deflect any rising heat right back to the room. If you are struggling to keep your home warm, one thing you can do is look into furnace replacement.
