As a mother of four kids, managing ADHD symptoms can be overwhelming. From forgetfulness to hyperactivity, it can feel like your brain is constantly on overdrive. While medication may be a valid option for some, I prefer to take a more natural approach to manage my symptoms. I’ve found a combination of natural supplements helped me manage my ADHD. In this blog post, I’ll share my personal experience with each supplement and how they’ve helped me manage my ADHD as a busy mom.

From Chaos to Calm: How These 8 Natural Supplements Helped Me Manage My ADHD as a Busy Mother of 4

Ashwagandha – Ashwagandha is an adaptogenic herb that has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine. It’s known for its ability to reduce stress and anxiety, which can be particularly helpful for those with ADHD. When I started taking ashwagandha, I noticed a significant reduction in my overall stress levels, which in turn helped me better manage my ADHD symptoms. I take it in capsule form, but it can also be brewed as a tea. This is the one I take.

Lion’s Mane – Lion’s mane is a mushroom that has been shown to improve cognitive function and memory. As someone with ADHD, I often struggle with forgetfulness and brain fog. Since adding lions mane to my supplement regimen, I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my ability to concentrate and remember things. It’s available in supplement form or can be brewed as a tea. This is the one I take.

B Complex – B vitamins are essential for proper brain function, and a deficiency can exacerbate ADHD symptoms. I take a B complex supplement daily to ensure I’m getting enough of these important vitamins. Since starting the supplement, I’ve noticed an improvement in my energy levels and overall mood. This is the one I take.

L-Theanine – L-theanine is an amino acid that is found in green tea. It has been shown to promote relaxation without causing drowsiness, making it a great supplement for those with ADHD who struggle with anxiety. I take it in capsule form, but it can also be found in green tea. This is the one I take.

Rhodiola – Rhodiola is another adaptogenic herb that has been shown to reduce stress and improve cognitive function. It’s particularly helpful for those with ADHD who struggle with fatigue and low energy levels. Since starting Rhodiola, I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my energy levels, which has made it easier to stay on top of my daily tasks. This is the one I take.

L-Tyrosine – L-tyrosine is an amino acid that is essential for the production of dopamine, a neurotransmitter that is often depleted in those with ADHD. Since dopamine is responsible for motivation and focus, a deficiency can worsen ADHD symptoms. I take L-Tyrosine in capsule form and have noticed an improvement in my ability to focus and stay on task since adding it to my supplement regimen. This is the one I take.

Magnesium Bisglycinate – Magnesium bisglycinate is a specific form of magnesium that is easy for the body to absorb. This form of magnesium has been shown to be particularly effective at improving mood and reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression. Since anxiety and depression are commonly associated with ADHD, taking a magnesium bisglycinate supplement can help manage those symptoms and improve overall well-being. Taking magnesium bisglycinate has helped me feel more relaxed and calm, and has reduced symptoms of restlessness and irritability. This is the one I take.

Fish Oils – Fish oils are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which have been shown to improve cognitive function and reduce inflammation in the brain. Since inflammation has been linked to ADHD symptoms, taking a fish oil supplement can help manage those symptoms. I take daily high-quality fish oil supplements and I have noticed an improvement in my ability to focus and remember things. When I am feeling particularly down I double up on my fish oils as I have found that they exponentially improve my moods. This is the one I take.

Also, because this is a lot of supplements I grabbed one of those handy-dandy pill containers that I can fill up each Sunday and be ready for an organized week. I find that this small task has helped me be successful in taking my supplements daily because I take all the guesswork out of the task. Grab one, you’ll thank me.

While these natural supplements have worked well for me, it’s important to remember that every person with ADHD is unique, and what works for one person may not work for another. Additionally, it’s important to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new supplement regimen.

Managing ADHD as a busy mom can be a challenge, but these natural supplements have helped me find some much-needed calm amidst the chaos. From ashwagandha to fish oils, each supplement has its own unique benefits and can help manage ADHD symptoms in different ways. By incorporating these supplements into my daily routine, I’ve been able to better manage my symptoms and feel more in control of my life.
