Deliciousness!

Now that the holidays are upon us I am starting to work on all of my DIY’s for gifts, and vanilla infused coconut oil it in lots of my creams and tasty treats. I love coconut oil as it is so good not only for your health but is such a decadent treat for your skin. Make sure you try this DIY Vanilla Infused Coconut Oil

This is something I have been doing since last winter when I first started making my own goodies and I am so impressed with the ease and versatility that I am going to share with you. I will be adding my homemade body butter DIY’s in the coming weeks so if you want to get a head start, make this!

DIY Vanilla Infused Coconut Oil

You will need:

A container to hold your oil (glass preferably)
1 Vanilla Pod (I got mine at Bulk Barn)
Coconut Oil to fill container

  1. Take your vanilla pod and cut it either in half or cut a slit from one end to the other so you can open it up and lay it on a flat surface.
  2. Take a knife and gently scrape the insides of the pod. I like to hold one end and start at the top and pull my knife down. That black paste is actually tons of vanilla beans and they are delicious
  3. Drop and pod and the beans into a clean container. I like to use glass as it is easier to heat up if I want the oil in a liquid form.
  4. Pour coconut oil to cover the pod and beans, put the lid on tightly and give it a shake.
  5. I put it in the freezer for 20-30 minutes to harden up because it is winter here and we keep our house toasty!
  6. I am going to say let it infuse for at least a week before you use it to make sure the vanilla really has a chance to infuse the oil but keep checking to see when you get a good scent (and taste..)

I cant wait to show you what I will be using this for in the coming weeks!
