Cleaning the Toilet: Tackling the Porcelain Throne

ToiletWand

I may not be a domestic goddess but I do spend a fair amount of my day either cleaning or dictating my little people to pick up after themselves. I like to think that my home is cleaning job in progress and I am OK with that most days. Enter cleaning the toilet, the job the never ends.

When I first had kids and no one else around me was a parent I felt like I had to make excuses for the mess but as time passed and more people had families they come over now and just say “I understand”. If you are visiting friends with kids you should say the same–FYI.

After all these years though I do have some favourite chores and some that I don’t do at all. Things like laundry and cleaning the bedrooms is 100% my responsibility although the kids are now old enough to do their rooms. Things like taking the garbage/recycling/green bins to the curb and shoveling the snow are 100 % my husbands chores. The washrooms on the other hand are a no mans land and we wait till they get so grimy that one of us cracks–usually him.

With kids who are still trying to figure out how much toilet paper is appropriate, a boy that pees in his sleep, and a potty-training pre-schooler who HAS to empty the potty by herself into the toilet lets just say things are getting out of hand in our home. OUT OF HAND people. I can’t find a dry inch to go myself.

Clorox® Disinfecting ToiletWand® Disposable Toilet Cleaning System

ToiletWand®

I could hold out in the past but now Cyrus is mobile and has a fixation with the toilet water I need to step it up a notch. I have been tasked with trying out the new Clorox® Disinfecting ToiletWand® Disposable Toilet Cleaning System and it has helped me tackle the toilets more effectively and efficiently then ever before.

The ToiletWand® has taken the space of our old toilet brushes (thankfully) which have admittedly seen better days. I now have a compact storage caddy that is not an eyesore and allows me to have a bathroom that is admittedly more germ-free.

How does it work?

So simple! You take your ToiletWand® handle and open up the handy storage caddy to find all of your cleaning heads which are preloaded with Clorox® toilet bowl cleaner. Click them in and start to clean the porcelain throne. Right away you will see that the spongy head is really hitting all of the spots the old brush was missing and I loved that the cleaner was getting rid of all the stains and killing germs like Staph and Salmonella. The ToiletWand® is helping us stay healthy and I need all the help I can get.

EACH STARTER KIT COMES WITH:
• 1 Disinfecting ToiletWand® handle
• 6 single-use disposable, disinfecting cleaning head refills
• 1 storage caddy that provides a convenient storage place for your Clorox ToiletWand®
SRP: $ 7.99

CLOROX® DISINFECTING TOILETWAND® REFILLS
• 6 Refills
SRP: $3.69

AVAILABLE NOW AT WALMART, EXTRA FOODS, RCWC, LOBLAWS, SUPERSTORE, DOMINION, FORTINOS, PROVIGO, YIG, AND ZEHRS.

I now clean as I go along so that the bathrooms don’t reach that level of ewww again. The toilets which I used to dread because it had me searching for gloves and cleaning supplies that were locked away is now done when I have a quick minute.

What is your least favourite chore? Is there something you just don’t do like me and the garbage bins?

I don’t mind cleaning the bathrooms as much as cleaning my little one’s high chair! All those little crooks that food gets in! And then the same crooks hold water in them so it’s never completely dried!

I feel your pain. The high chair is NEVER fully clean

For me, I can’t and could never stand having the bathroom dirty and it has to be cleaned at least once a week. The bathroom shower especially has to be clean or I won’t even go in it. Clorox has some fabulous products but nothing better than bleach.

My least favourite chore is cleaning the tub. I don’t mind cleaning the toilet, but the Toilet Wand would make it even better.
