Bravado Designs: Best Nursing Wear For New Moms

bravado designsHave you heard of Bravado Designs? Bravado Designs does nursing wear but really well. I recently got the pleasure of being asked onto the Bravado Test Wear Team and I am really glad I took the opportunity.

I know most of my readers are women so I don’t have to tell you how bad bras can be, you know. They’re too tight, not enough support, or my biggest disappointment…those underwires that want to stab you in the heart.

Nursing bras are probably even worse then normal ones because your breasts are constantly emptying and engorging so how can you actually be properly fitted in a situation like that?

This is where the Bravado Designs garments come in and they are genius.

My Fitting

As part of the Bravado Test Wear Team I got to go into their head office and be properly fitted for not 1 but 3 beautiful garments. As I was going through the Bravado website I saw that they accept applications to be a part of the Test Wear Team. If this is something that would interest you the link is here. Please note that they are looking for moms in the Toronto area and their office is located around Leslie and York Mills.Bravado Designs

I brought my husband and two youngest kids in with me as we are pretty much attached at the hip and within 40 minutes I had 3 amazing pieces that I will wear for years. My husband who usually has no opinion on what bras I wear actually got involved and voiced his opinion and also mentioned how great they looked.

The environment was bright and airy and I love the board in the fitting room that was full of quotes and photos, most of which I have personally shared on social media at one point or another in my parenting journey. It made me feel like Bravado understood me when in fact they understood mothers in general.Bravado Designs

I found that Bravado sizes are pretty true to other companies but I also feel as if there is a lot of room for error/growth. Since there is no underwire your cups can shrink and grow to their hearts desire. Even the band is super stretchy although you may want to anticipate any weight gain/loss so that it stays comfortable.

Confetti Nursing Bra

I got this bra in black with white polka dots. It is seamless, the material is soft and stretchy, and my favourite aspect is the fact that there is no underwire at all. I am not a small woman so I didn’t think it was possible to get the support I needed without an underwire but Bravado has proved me wrong. All-in-all this bra is fantastic for daily wear and as a testament to its comfort I have even slept with it on.bravado designs

The Essential Nursing Bra Tank

Ask any mom and especially a breastfeeding one what their essential piece of clothing is and they will say a tank top. It provides easy access all while covering our problem midsection and I own plenty. But I have never owned one that had a built-in nursing bra and now I am questioning myself “why”.bravado designs

The essential nursing bra tank is like getting your cake and eating it too. The bra is lined with Bravado! CottonFlex™ so that you will have cotton against your skin. I personally love the cut of the tank as it is long enough that it can accommodate a pregnant belly but it doesn’t make you look like a stuffed sausage. It looks just as good today as when I got it and that speaks to the quality because it has been through a few loads in the washer and dryer.

Body Silk Seamless Yoga

So the Body Silk Seamless Yoga bra is a bra that does double-duty. It can be used in low impact sports such as yoga or pilates with straps that cross at the back for added comfort and design. The straps can be converted so that it can be used as a daily bra which is great. I chose the Charcoal Heather colour because grey is a staple in my wardrobe and I have not looked back once. The stretch (4-way!) and support I feel when wearing the Body Silk Seamless Yoga bra is amazing.

To ensure the bra lasts it is treated with Silverbreeze™, which is an antimicrobial finish that prevents the growth of mold and bacteria. Goodbye odour and discolouration, perfect for when you forget it in the gym bag for a while.

I really love that I can wear this bra and no one would be the wiser that it was a nursing bra and when I am done nursing it comes with a great conversion kit that turns it into a regular bra. The love continues beyond the nursing years. You can purchase the Body Silk Seamless Yoga bra for $55 CDN/US

I look for fit. I’m a hard-to-find size (32J), which made maternity bra shopping even harder since they just don’t have a small band with a large cup. And then someone told me about Bravado, and I figured I’d check them out, and they’re my new favorites! I have 3 of the nursing tanks (I’m wearing one right now!) and LOVE THEM. Lived in them all summer, practically! and now I wear them under sweaters for warmth and easy access.

Anyway, after fit, I guess comfort. but if it fits right, it’s comfortable, so it all comes down to that one thing!

I look for comfort in a bra. I have given up on “professional” bras, you know with hooks and underwire. And honestly “real” pants if it doesn’t have an elastic waist band I don’t want it
