I’ve personally always been curious about my roots. As a child of divorce and also an immigrant to Canada, I find it super hard to connect with my beginnings or unearth any information about my life prior to Canada.

Our holidays visits with family may be in limbo this year but I think I have found a way for my kids and I to still feel that connection to our loved ones with AncestryDNA and Ancestry’s family history subscription Ancestry.ca.

Honestly, I think a consumer DNA kit like AncestryDNA is the perfect gift for everyone on your list. There, I said it. Currently sitting at $40 off I think there is no better gift than self-discovery. The test uncovers your ethnic mix, lost family members and even lets you see your family’s unique history. To date, more than 18 million people have used the service and the database keeps growing as the years pass.

What I love about the Ancestry.ca subscription as a gift your family and friends is that it can be used in conjunction with your DNA kit or as a standalone. You can easily search through historical worldwide records and build online family trees. It’s a great place to keep information and I love how it allows you can easily find how your ancestors lived, when they arrived in Canada, and even if they served in the military.

I think that i would gift this. i have a friend that is an only child and her father who came over from Scotland died when she was very young and he also was an only child so i think it would be nice for her to discover some long lost family ….im sure they are out there somewhere….

I once was told that I had family members, from my dad’s side of the family, living in the States & Europe. I would use the Kit for myself in hopes of maybe connecting with one or two of them. I really believe that one’s history is important to know, & knowing your Ancestry just may clear-up a lot of unanswered questions lingering in the back of your mind.
