Giving Thanks as a Mom: A Great Reminder of Life’s Blessings

giving thanks

With Thanksgiving around the corner I can’t help but be reminded of Giving Thanks as a Mom. So much to be grateful for.

Thankful for the piles of laundry I do each week that mean we have clothes to wear and a means to wash them all.

Thankful for the beds to be made as it means we have a safe place to lay our heads, especially when so many don’t.

Thankful for the dishes to wash for it means we have food in our bellies.

Thankful for the loud house as it means it is filled to the brim with family, friends and a beloved dog.

Thankful for the sticky fingerprints lining all my walls because those sticky fingerprints belong to my greatest joys.

Thankful for little bodies that make their way to my bed during the night as it means they still find comfort in being close to me.

Thankful for having to constantly answer to “Mom, Mommy, Mama, and sometimes even Aneta” as it means my kids are still coming to me to ask for my help, opinions and comfort.

Thankful for the for big emotions that  sometimes spew from my kids, whether they be happy, sad or mad, as they mean that they are experiencing the highs and lows that come with being alive.

Thankful that even though they sometimes tell me they hate me and that I am the worst mom in the world I know deep down inside they don’t mean it.

Thankful for the opportunity to work from home so I don’t have to miss any of their ‘firsts’.

Thankful that no matter how much I feel like I am failing at this whole ‘Mom” thing the kids still tell me I am the ‘Best Mom Ever’.

Thankful for my online and in person mommy tribe that answers my questions no matter what time of day (or night) it is and eases my fears.

Mostly I am thankful that I have somehow been blessed with 4 wonderful kids who can take me right to the edge and bring me back with their sloppy kisses and ‘I love you’s”.

We all need to look around at our families and our surroundings and really be thankful for everything we have because a lot of people aren’t this lucky.

I was just looking at my boys the other night (they are 4&5) and I was just thinking how big they are and how small they were as babies.. They were preemie so they were very small… I’m thankful that they are growing to be such gentlemen!

That was beautiful. When reading it, I too was thankful for all you mentioned. My 2 kids are 12 and 13 and still need cuddles and hugs which I love.

Great list although I have to admit I have never felt thankful when my kids have told me I’m the worst mom ever or they hate me, lol. You’re a better mom than me there!
