Skechers: Growing Up & Looking the Part

I am a self-proclaimed tomboy. I have half a dozen white sneakers and really (I mean really) like to wear 10-year-old sweat pants around the house. At least that is what I have been telling myself since my induction into motherhood. It’s time for a change. I need to change. I needed Skechers.

Truth is it’s easier to just throw on sweats and put my hair in a “mom-bun”. I have expanded and shrank four times and am currently heavier than I have been in a long time. I am uncomfortable and complacent to just blend in the background, except I am really not.

I also feel like I am fighting this fight over and over again.

I was thinking about the show on TLC where Stacey comes into your home and looks through your closet only to show all of your embarrassing pieces and throw them out in a big hoorah. Of course, you then get a shopping spree of amazing items that you will be happy to wear. That you won’t have to change out of before leaving the house. I need that show to come back on the air so if you know people send them my info….mmmmmkay?

Since I don’t have a $5000 Visa to just go on a shopping spree I am starting out slowly. I still can’t throw out the sweats (although they all have holes in the seams :o) but I am stepping outside of my comfort zone when it comes to the pieces I acquire. This morning I gave my son my favourite pair of running shoes and in return I opted to wear these great booties from Skechers.

This style is called Parallel: Double Trouble and it’s a casual bootie so it is not a far stretch from my runners although it makes me instantly feel like I am adulting well. I have been scared to wear heels in the past because I have always been either carrying a baby or had an unnatural fear of them running to me and pushing me over. I’m over it. I am going to wear these with pride. Also, I think hubby is pretty happy to see me wearing some more feminine choices 😉

Speaking of Hubby, he also went out of his comfort zone (again the sneakers) and opted for this pair of Relaxed Fit: Segment – Barillo in brown.

I feel like we are growing up and moving into our roles as parents and adults with these boot choices. My kids are becoming more and more aware of what we wear and I am noticing they are mirroring us. I want my kids to take pride in their appearance so stay tuned to more of me trying to find that magical $5000 Visa shopping spree–or I will replace one item at a time. Starting with these boots.
