Halal Food Fest

Halal Food Fest

It is that time of year again when the Halal Food Fest Toronto comes to town. If you are a self proclaimed foodie this is the event for you. We had an absolutely amazing time last year and I even met Nazim Kadri from the Toronto Maple Leafs!

The Food

This year there will be over 75 food exhibitors bringing you the best in Halal food in the city. Things to keep your eyes open for and your tummy empty for include:

  • The Holy Poutine (Spanish fries made with in-house halal chorizo, Spanish olives and other Spanish inspired ingredients from The Holy Grill, a halal food truck launched by Toronto chef Aleem Syed)

  • Jerk Fried Chicken and Belgian Waffle S’mores from Chef’s Life, sponsored by Sargent Farms

  • The halal Lollypop Juicy Lucy from Burger Factory

The Festival Line UP

So much great stuff is on the bill this year that you will be sure to have an amazing weekend full of learning, entertainment and of course FOOD! Some things to look out for include:

  • Popular Toronto Chef Aleem Syed, the owner of Canada’s first wheelchair accessible food truck, The Holy Grill, and The Holy Grill restaurant
  • Guest chefs Marida and Narida Mohammed of “Twice de Spice,” identical twin sisters who both competed on MasterChef Canada, finishing as runner up
  • Cooking demo by guest chef Devan Rajkumar, the executive chef at CHEFDEV, and brand ambassador for the critically acclaimed Toronto-based food empire, The Food Dudes
  • Canadian beauty blogger, makeup artist and Hijab stylist, Saman Munir, and Hamzah Moin, a popular Canadian comedian currently performing stand-up across North America
  • New and exciting vendors such as Chef’s Life with Sargent Farms, The Holy Grill, Black Ox Bistro, Pasha, Stir N Grill, Bombay Street Food and Melt Grilled Cheese

This year I can’t make it as it is my daughters birthday but that doesn’t mean that one lucky winner can’t win 4 free passes to the weekends festivities. The event is being held  on May 30th and 31st at The International Centre, Entrance 5, which is located on 6900 Airport Rd., in Mississauga. Please make sure you can make it before you enter the contest!

I just saw this post on Triberr and the first thing that attracted my attention was the word ‘Halal’. I live in Indonesia, and I thought Halal food’s only available here in my country and maybe in Arab, so it’s really refreshing to know it’s a thing too in Toronto. I wish I get to be there!

Halal is worldwide and in Toronto we have such a diverse culture that you can find almost any type of food. More and more customers are wanting Halal and businesses seem happy to oblige.
