The Dreaded Massage and How I Stopped Giving It

instashiatsu+

“Can you massage me?”

This sentence literally makes me want to turn and run. My hands are small and not nearly strong enough to give my significant other the relief he needs yet it doesn’t stop him from asking every single day. With a relentless back injury from a car accident he just can’t get relief and I feel for him and his pain, but damn it is a pain in the you know what.

As someone who does not like to be touched and massaged I really don’t like doling out massages myself and so when the opportunity came up to try the truMedic InstaShiatsu+ Neck and Back Massager I jumped on it, my marriage and happiness depend on it. instashiatsu+

instashiatsu+Straight out of the box, the InstaShiatsu+ (info here) had to be charged. Do I wish I thought of that the night before so I could just hand it to my husband in the morning to stop him from asking, of course, but two hours to fully charge did not ruin my day or his for that matter. Do I appreciate that this is cordless and rechargeable and even comes with a handy carrying bag for when we are out and about? ABSOLUTELY! Sitting in the car he can use it while I am driving to run errands.

My husband was skeptical that this would work. He has other massage units that he uses that  have been more of an all-over  massage which is not what he is looking for now. He wants it to be direct on his pain points to give him relief. The moment he tried it I could see he was pleasantly surprised.

The InstaShiatsu+ has two loops at the ends where you can put your hands or forearms. The harder you pull on the loops the deeper the InstaShiatsu+ will penetrate. Changing it up to hit each sore spot is as easy as moving it into position and turning it on. If you want to spice things up a bit you can also take advantage of the heat option or the change direction option.

As for me, I decided to try it out as well because the days are long over here and I am in pain. Cleaning and picking the kids up does a number on my back and since this machine cuts out the horrible touching a person would do but still allows relief I happily take a personal time out to enjoy it.

Let’s talk cost. Currently, it is on sale for around $160 which is a minor price to pay for the relief it provides. As a parent, I think it is almost impossible to get an opportunity to get a massage out of the home. Calling someone into your home is an option but expensive. If you think about how the costs can compound the $160 price tag seems like a steal. For me, it’s worth not having my husband beg for massage’s anymore.

Looks like it would be a good temporary reliever for the periods between seeing a masseuse. Thanks for the recommendation.
