Designated Lunch Maker: How to Win Snacktime

school lunch

Like many of you, I am anxiously awaiting September 6th so that the kids can head out to school. I will gladly step up to my role of ‘lunch maker’ in exchange for a day with only half of the kids. The difference between two kids and four is life-changing and I may even be able to sneak in naps during the day again.

School snacks have always been a hit-and-miss in our home because we have four little people to satisfy. Not only do I want to give them healthy options, I also need the snacks to be convenient. I don’t have time to cut my kids apples up into a butterfly shapes with cheese cleverly disguised into smiley faces.school lunch

iÖGO nanö for Lunch

In the weeks before school starts, we start the process of finding out what the kids like and don’t like for school lunches. What I have learned is that my little people will hate something at lunch that they absolutely loved at breakfast and it makes this process even more important.school snack

What do you do when a brand you already love gets new product packaging and flavours? You try it of course. It’s a lot easier to get the kids to try new foods when the packaging and flavours are appealing to them and the fact that they are usually at eye level in our grocer’s dairy fridge is a big plus. Having them fill the cart with items they like AND are healthy is a win-win in my books.

This week we have been trying out the iÖGO nanö drink for the kids. We bought the strawberry flavour because we know from the past that it is a winner in our home. I now know not to mess too much with perfection so we stay with the tastes they are used to, making trying new products a lot less stressful. If you’re looking to add in some extra veggies into your kid’s diet, you can try iÖGO nanö’s new line of veggie and fruit flavours too!

The drink containers were the perfect size for our kids as a healthy snack. We even let the little guy go to town on one and he managed to get most of it in his mouth. The iÖGO nanö line comes available in a pouch, tube, cup or drink to meet your family’s needs and are available in most supermarkets.

I really like how the kids can just grab these out of our fridge and help themselves. When I am working on a tight deadline or trying to make dinner, I don’t want to be disturbed every time a kid needs a snack.

#ReadySetNanö Contest

Because iÖGO nanö wants to help you out with all the costs of back-to-school, they are launching a #ReadySetNanö contest beginning on September 6th for a chance to win 1 of 2 Back-to-School Prize Packs ($250 VISA + iÖGO vouchers).  All you need to do is Tweet a picture of your little ones on their first day of school. You were going to do that anyways right?
