Couples Gift Idea: Melt: Massage

Couples Gift Idea: Melt: Massage

This post is in partnership with Melt: Massage for Couples. All thoughts and opinions are my own

I am so excited to share that I have finally discovered the best couples gift idea (or your significant other), whether you are dating, newly married, or celebrating decade-long anniversaries. It’s a couples massage class and it’s enough to completely have your significant other melt in your hands, quite literally.

Stress-Filled Times Call for Reconnection

Now more than ever people are going through stress and difficult times. There are so many couples spending copious amounts of times together thanks to stay-at-home orders but it seems communication is being depleted at every turn. How is it that even though we are seemingly so close together we can somehow feel so alone and distant? It’s because we need to connect better, and I love that Melt: Massage for Couples offers a non-sexual learning environment that is not raunchy but instead very easy to follow along with and replicate.

Why We Needed the Best Gift for Couples Ourselves

I want to share about my relationship a little bit. My husband is the king of massage. If it were up to him he would be receiving massages day-in, day-out, and yet somehow he managed to marry a woman who a. does not like to give massages and b. is really, really specific about how she wants to receive her massages. Poor guy. Through the years I have bought every chair, handheld massager, and gimmick available to make him happy without having to actually do any work myself. And the excuses I came up with over the years, “I’m too tired”, “my hands hurt”, “I’m done (after just a few minutes)”. Do they sound familiar?

After 14 years I think it was time to put the excuses away and reconnect again. We have spent the last 14 months at home with our kids and guess who is ready to take back the nights with her husband? Me.

Why Massage is the Perfect Couples Gift Idea

Denis Merkas, the creator of Melt: Massage for Couples has interviewed over 40,000 couples and asked them why they massage each other and the answers ranged so much.

  • Relaxation and Stress Release
  • Release Knots and Tension
  • Intimacy and Connection
  • Foreplay and Sex
  • Save a Relationship
  • PTSD
  • Sleep Better
  • Reduce Pain and Inflammation
  • Anniversaries / Birthdays / Valentine’s Day
  • Trips Away & Holidays
  • Non-Verbal Communication
  • Love Languages

Everything You Need to Know About Melt: Massage for Couples

Melt is the brainchild of Denis Merkas an Australian Registered Massage Therapist who has been in the business since 2000. He’s massaged some of the biggest celebrities on the planet such as Pearl Jam, Art Garfunkel, The Pussycat Dolls, Flo Ryda, James Earl Jones and many more from Athletes to Royalty. Since 2015 though he’s focused on Melt which teaches people how to give massages correctly.

Over the years he’s perfected the process, first doing workshops live all while making tweaks to the process, until he eventually recorded to process to be able to share with the world. This is modern day Melt.

Melt: Massage for Couples

Melt classes are meant to be followed along together. You will press play on your device, learn something new, press pause and try it out on your partner. The process is not meant to be sexual although it can certainly lead to that if you want it too. It’s meant to teach you new skills to make your partner feel better, make you have a good time together and reconnect.

Massage For Beginners

Melt teaches you the massage for beginners concepts in as little as 20 minutes although you will for sure take a little more time to press pause, massage each other, and press play again. Although it’s filmed in a non-sexual way your experience may veer that way and as long as you both agree, that’s a great little break in-between lessons.

Cheap Date-Night Idea

Rosemarie of BusyBudgeter.com calls it the best date night she’s ever found (read her story here) and I am going to agree. If you break down the cost of the different packages you can easily have a great date night at home for only dollars each time. Something as easy as getting the kids to bed, quickly tidying up the bedroom and lighting the candles for ambiance, and getting each other ready for a couple of hours focusing on just you guys can really help relationships flourish. I personally think it’s a great way to gain trust in a relationship, to allow yourself to show your partner what feels good and maybe what doesn’t feel the best for your body. You can take that same assertiveness into other parts of date night to make sure both parties are getting exactly what they need.

Right on. Here’s the thing with Father’s Day, especially when couples share their finances. Physical gifts are great and all, but “shared experiences” are so much more valuable. This is perfect.

That is our deal too. Mike is my best friend and our relationship has grown on so many levels that I never imagined it would. We have so much trust right now I would happily try and put myself in his hands to get some healing
