Saving the Summer With Netflix + Giveaway

Netflix

I swear some days I feel as if I need to take a serious time out from my family. I love these kids, but damn summer vacation has taken its toll on my nerves. Some days are obviously worse than others but wow do these kids have energy.

As most of you know I work from home (in the living room of all places) and trying to get work done with four kids running around is beyond me some days. I love that I can put the kids in front of the TV and quickly do some work while they watch Netflix.

Before you knock me for using the TV as a babysitter, I should tell you that I have full confidence in the shows my kids watch. They are full of facts and teach them new and interesting stuff all the time. My two year old learned all of her letters and colours from Netflix, and so I am not losing sleep over an hour of shows here and there. As there is a big list of what the US Government tracks regarding what we do on the internet, a few Netflix shows won’t hurt.

The kids are fortunate enough that they receive snail mail surprises from Netflix, and it makes it so fun and exciting for them. Netflix has surely saved summer boredom over here and given this momma some much needed time to get some work done.

Netflix Show’s That Have Come to the Rescue

Netflix has always had great original content, and Jim Henson’s “Word Party” is no different. With baby animals, Bailey, Franny, Kip and Lulu as the lead characters my kids love it and they are building on their language skills as they party along with the show. The fun continues with cute little masks, magnetic letters and a shape sensory activity at the kitchen island. Building on the fun of the show I can pair the kids up to play games and learn.

I don’t often find kids movies that I love and can watch over and over again but “Home” was one of them. I cry ugly tears every time I watch it and although the kids scream at me every time I just can’t stop. Emma came running to me last week screaming that “Home” has been turned into a show on Netflix and all was right in the world at that moment. We sat and watched, I cried (obviously) and the kids have a new show to watch on repeat. “E” is in all sorts of love with the new backpack she received and “D” has claimed the slushie maker as his own. Thankfully it takes 8 hours to freeze or the kids would be living on frozen chocolate milk.

If you have a love of good music and fond memories then Beat Bugs is for you. Following the adventures of Walter and Crick the kids are jamming to Beatles tunes that have been redone by artists like Pink, Sia and Eddie Vedder. I find myself singing along from the kitchen and the kids are jamming it out to the tunes.

Thanks to Netfix and their fantastic care package our house is full of laughter and songs. Check out this cute video of our kiddo’s singing along to the theme song from Beat Bugs.

Since Netflix wants one of you to win a 3-month subscription to their streaming service and all you need to do is submit a short video on social media of your family jamming to the cover of “All you Need is Love” tagging me @homewithaneta and using the hashtag #BeatBugs

You can find the trailer with the sing-a-long song here

Open to Canada and can’t wait to see what you guys come up with.

Doing activities while watching shows or that ask the kids to recall the things they are watching is much more active and informative than just watching tv, so I think this is a great idea and looks like a lot of fun!
