Spring Snack Ideas with Rice Krispies + Giveaway #RiceKrispiesSpring #Kellogger

With Easter next weekend our family is ramping up for the holiday. As much as I don’t like my kids “hopped” up on sugar there are a few times a year when they can eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner…as long as they eat their healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Easter here is a mish-mash of religious significance and straight up a celebration of Spring. My husband and I decided long ago that we would respect each other’s religious and cultural traditions and for the most part we have. I think the kids have benefited the most–not just by being exposed to different cultures but they really do get the best of both sides.

Spring Edition Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Cereal Egg Nests

This year the kids and I are making some special treats to celebrate Easter. We will leave the meal prep for grandma and grandpa and provide the special treats for after thanks to Spring Edition Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Cereal. I mean how can we not make these easy treats that are sure to keep the spirits high hopefully the April showers away.

Rice Krispies egg nests

INGREDIENTS

  • 60 mL or 1/4 cup margarine or butter
  • 250 g or 1 pkg (about 40) regular marshmallows or 5 cups miniature
  • 2 mL or 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1.5 L or 6 cups Rice Krispies* Spring Edition cereal
  • Miniature marshmallows
  • Chocolate eggs

DIRECTIONS

Regular Method
1. In a large microwave-safe bowl, heat margarine and marshmallows at HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir in vanilla.

2. Stir in KELLOGG’S* RICE KRISPIES* Spring Edition cereal until well coated. Shape mixture into sixteen 7 cm nests.

3. Fill cooled nests with miniature marshmallows and chocolate eggs. Best if served same day.

Stove Top Method
Melt margarine in large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Follow steps 2 and 3 above.

In keeping with good allergy practices, we remind you to be aware of allergens and to check labels on any packaged goods used. This recipe has been tested using Kellogg’s* products. Results with other products may vary.

Rice Krispies on the Go

Let’s be honest here, some days we have time to make treats with our kids and some days we just want to hop on over to the store, grab their lunchbox favourites and still give them those happy feelings. No shame in that mom! I have a whole big basket of store-bought school snacks above the fridge because they are convenient and the kids love them. A staple is Rice Krispies Squares but just in time for spring we have Spring Edition Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Square Bars. Tiny little bite size treats that pack in all the joy of spring in a perfect serving size.

For more inspiration on how you can keep the joy in your own home check out the Yummy Recipes – Special Occasions section on the Rice Krispies website and the Rice Krispies Canada Pinterest Page for treat-making inspiration. And, for scrumptious recipe ideas all year long, follow Rice Krispies on Twitter, Facebook , and Instagram.
