My Much Needed “Me Time” Routine #WholeBlends

My Much Needed “Me Time” Routine #WholeBlends

I am a low maintenance person. I don’t get my nails done weekly, my visits to the spa are almost non-existent and I don’t jet off on weekend getaways on a whim. That USED to be my life. Now, I trade in my heels for flats, my perfectly coifed hair for an equally perfect mom bun and my spa is actually a bath that I take once the kids are sleeping. My “Me Time” looks different now but it is just as enjoyable and necessary as it used to be.

As a mom of four kids seven and under, I find my days ending with me over-touched and over stimulated. I am longing for the kids’ bedtime as I used to long for work to end on Fridays. It means I get to relax and it also means I get to focus on myself and what I need to continue to be a good parent, wife and friend.

Its not easy to make the time and when there is always something to do but I manage to have a great routine that guarantees that I get to unwind at the end of the day. It involves a bath, hot water, no kids jumping in, and some time to pamper myself all alone.Whole Blends

Bubble Baths, Wine, & Pampering

Running a bubble bath after the kids are asleep gives me the same anticipated flutter as I get when I am pouring a bottle of wine in the decanter to aerate. I get all of my candles lit and make sure all of my necessary tools and products are within arm’s reach. There is nothing worse than having to call someone in to bring me something or even worse, get out myself. If I am committing to the bath I am staying in until I have exfoliated (and pruned) skin, a clear mind and hair that is conditioned back to its original lustre.

New to my “Me Time” routine is Garnier’s Whole Blends new line of hair products. The line is paraben free, contains natural extracts and uses gentle sulfates so that I end up with hair that is shiny, healthy and frizz free. Each blend focuses on a unique hair action. I chopped my hair off this week so I want to keep it healthy and the “Nourishing” line is what I have been using. With the delicious aroma of the Avocado Oil and Shea Butter blend coating my strands, I was delightfully surprised that I could finger comb my hair after washing out my conditioner.Whole Blends 2

I got the coconut one and I love it, the scent is awesome and my hair is so soft!!

Coconut is one of my favourite scents. I admittedly buy coconut oil in bulk and use it for everything so I will be trying this once my bottle is finished. So glad you like yours.

Wow, those first couple paragraphs could have been you writing about me!!
It’s interesting the way what I want for me time has evolved into such a simple thing…most of the time I have to desire to do any of the things I used to do for me time and I just want to have a soak in the tub with a good book!

    • January 27, 2016 / 11:44 pm

I am always so scared to start a book. I get so into it and the kids always make me stop in awkward places

My bath time is the best self care! I know I need exercise included LOL but having a bath to myself is a good starting point.

    • January 27, 2016 / 11:43 pm

I feel the same way. There will come a day when there will be enough time to do both 🙂

I love your curls. I also sport the “mom bun” an awful lot lately. I think I need to amp it up a little.

    • February 7, 2016 / 10:11 pm

The mom bun is so easy though 🙂 Keeps the hair out of your eyes so you can keep them on the kids.

Does your hair feel limp and just blah after using the same shampoo and conditioner for months on end? I think I need to shake it up and try these. I bet the coconut water and vanilla milk one smells divine!

    • February 7, 2016 / 10:13 pm

I agree girlfriend. Let me know where you see them and I will be going out to get some more

I am as low maintenance as they come but like to make sure that I’m healthy. This avocado blend sounds and I bet smells amazing! Can’t wait to get my sample. Thanks for sharing.

I love that you like it. I am kind of a stickler for scent. I know it doesn’t mean anything but I prefer a great one.
