A couple of weeks ago I started using a new hair care system that cleaned my hair so well I thought I was going gray. True Story. I spent two days trying to convince my husband that there was gray hair and also looking for it myself. Two days wasted but also a tiny wake-up call and a reminder that I am not getting any younger and I have a lot on my plate right now. ‘I didn’t even think twice about going gray because of the stress I am going through’ is a lot of stress!
So I needed to look to something that was kind and gentle on not only my mind but also my body. Sometimes you need that little wake-up call or very clean hair to remind you to jump right back in. Also, guys I have a few new hair care products that really clean your hair so stay tuned for the deets next week.
Beginner Yoga Essentials from Gaiam
At the beginning of the year, I wanted to get to the dreaded 100 kg weight. It is not a pretty weight but I got there and in order to keep up with the slow and steady pace that I thrive at I wanted to find something that would gently introduce some new techniques. Something that would help me get not only my body but mind in better order and I did so with the Gaiam Yoga Beginners Kit in Seabreeze ($49.99). For a newbie like me the thought of deciphering what I needed to get started was a bit overwhelming so having it packed up nicely in this kit was great. Included in this particular kit is the 2-sided yoga mat, yoga strap, brick and DVD that includes 2 20-minute workouts, a props intro, as well as a seated meditation prep.
The workouts are slow-paced and you are encouraged to do the routine to the best of your ability without straining. Sometimes my form is nothing like Rodney Yee’s as he guides me through the exercises but other times I feel like I am doing great. All that matters is that for 20-minutes I am taking the time to focus on myself before all of the kids wake up and for now it is enough.
Jump Around With Cardio Essentials From SPRI
If you follow my Instagram stories you will have noticed that sometimes I get 10 minutes warning that I have to be at the kids school because my husband is held up somewhere and can’t pick them up. Pushing a double stroller I was so winded so I went back to basics with the SPRI Segmented Jump Rope($29.99) thinking that I was going to totally rock jumping rope and it would be a breeze, I mean I was once a double-dutch queen so how can I not rock it right?
It is work! But it feels good to go out to the deck and jump rope. By no means am I the double-dutch queen I used to be but trying to master moves I could do with my eyes closed as a kid has ignited a fire within me. The fire is mostly in my arms and legs the next day but once you start jumping it’s a great feeling and at 9 ft I am not worried about tripping on the rope. My very fit husband loves this rope and he is a BOSS at it. I thought I had skills until I saw him jump and the sweat start pouring off of him. Cardio for the win.
This Gaiam Water Bottle – 500 ML/ 17 oz in Silver Wave ($22.99) was supposed to help me drink more water but I am struggling to pry it out of my family’s hands. I have found it in my son’s bag while packing lunches and the water was still cold from the day before. My husband put’s his tea in it and it stay’s hot for the day. Stainless steel and double-walled so you can comfortably throw it in your bag without worrying about it breaking or leaking. Total winner.
The Yoga Kit and Segmented Power Rope can be picked up on the Gaiam website, www.sportchek.ca and in-store at Sport Chek while the bottle can be picked up on the Gaiam website and also Shoppers Drug Mart.
