Why I Love my Rogers Ignite WiFi Hub

Why I Love my Rogers Ignite WiFi Hub

It’s a summertime miracle! As a parent of four kids, I needed some extra help in managing  my family’s WiFi use, but now with the user-friendly Rogers Ignite WiFi Hub, I can help them manage their online time while giving me peace of mind that they are not on devices all day.

Why I Love my Rogers Ignite WiFi Hub

Last month I was having a conversation with one of my best friends about how I had to sign the kids up for camp because I didn’t want them to spend the summer glued to a screen. With all these devices in my home connected to WiFi, there is no way I’d be able to keep up and manage my kids’ WiFi usage. There’s only so many times you can threaten to unplug the modem before they catch on you’re bluffing because you actually need WiFi for your business.

A couple of weeks after that conversation, I discovered (and promptly installed) the Rogers Ignite WiFi Hub and now I have my whole family’s WiFi usage right on my smartphone. This service is available for Rogers Ignite TV bundle customers.

Downloading the app and signing in was a breeze. I quickly set up profiles for the whole family and assigned devices to their profiles.

When I catch my oldest kid playing video games before he has done his daily book reading, I can set Active Time Alerts to ensure reading gets done and keep the amount of time online to certain times.

If he doesn’t come down for meals when I call him, or my oldest daughter practices her selective hearing, I pause their devices and their attention is mine.

The result has been amazing!

My kids are listening to me because they know good behaviour means they get rewarded with bonus WiFi time.

There is even a bedtime mode that will set a timer to pause devices to ensure everyone is getting a good night’s rest—and not watching just one more episode of their fave show… No more kids hiding under their blankets with a device watching YouTube late into the night. And you know what? With the extra sleep, my kids (and even mom and dad) aren’t as cranky in the morning.

Added bonus! When I’m out, I can see when new devices connect to my WiFi network so I know if any of the kids have their friends over. It’s the ultimate mom tool!

I’ve decided that I am no longer going to settle with the kids misbehaving and me not doing anything about it. Thanks to the Rogers Ignite WiFi Hub we are setting positive reinforcement to make sure chores are done, books are read, and bedtimes are respected.

I really like that you can see when new devices connect to your WiFi network, not only to see who is in your home, but also because of kids who are using it even when they aren’t there. (We live in a condo above a coffee house so ours get used often).

We can’t get Rogers TV in my area, but this sounds like a great app. I have something similar for my kids where I can pause/unpause their devices and see exactly how long they are on the devices and online and it’s great

I think these are great! I find I end up staying up too late and setting limits on internet use is really helpful for our well-being.

I like everything about this Hub, especially the bedtime mode. It’s difficult to keep kids off the internet at night because they can be sneaky. I really like that you can see when new devices are connecting to your wifi.

This sounds a marvellous way of controlling the time kids spend online, which really is necessary otherwise they’d be on all day long.
