Eggs: Delicious, Easy and a Crowd Pleaser

weekday eggs

What do you serve for breakfast that will be nutritious and a crowd pleaser? Eggs of course!

Why Eggs?

At only 70 calories each, eggs are packed with 6 grams of the highest quality protein and 14 key nutrients. 2 eggs in the morning is one serving from the Meat and Alternatives food group according to Canada’s Food Guide. Eggs are one of the few foods considered to be a complete protein, full of  9 essential amino acids that your body can’t produce on its own. Perfect to fuel our family members as they start the day. Whether they are off to school, work or running errands, they will be ready to tackle the days tasks with energy.

Weekday Eggs

At some point eggs became more of a ‘weekend treat’ and too much work for a Monday-Friday. Sometimes we need to shake up the norm and go back to the tried and true, eggs can and should be a great start to every morning and especially on days when we need fuel the most, the weekday.

I can get the three oldest kids fed and out the door in the same amount of time it would take us to make oatmeal or heat up some frozen breakfast foods. Depending on the kid a quick scramble or fry makes getting the goodness of eggs a lot easier than most thing. Its a little prep with a big payoff.

A bagel with some spinach and egg  is a quick fix for hubby and I. My youngest much prefers the persimmon pictured but me? I prefer the perfect eggy-goodness.

You see eggs aren’t just for the weekends, they’re perfect everyday. Your weekend eggs just became your new weekday eggs. Don’t believe me check out this quick video from Egg Farmers of Canada.

For some quick and tasty egg recipes check out the Egg Farmers of Canada website and start your week off right, with eggs.

Eggs are a favorite around here. My oldest son (17) has them for breakfast several times each week. They were the first food he learned to cook on his own years ago.

Having a stash of boiled eggs in the fridge most of the time has saved my bacon on several occasions. Otherwise, we’d be dealing with lots of “hangry” people.
