Perks + Benefits While Flying Air Transat - Air Transat Kids Club and Options Plus

Full disclosure. We paid for our own seats but Air Transat did upgrade the adults in our party with the Options Plus addition. This post is not in partnership with them but genuinely by me so that I can share my experience.

Last month we went on the trip of a lifetime with my family to Hotel Xcaret, Mexico. We had such a great experience I decided to write about the perks and benefits while flying Air Transat because our fights not only set the mood but ended our vacation on a super high note. Add in the Options Plus and Air Transat Kids Club and we were on cloud 9.

Full disclosure Air Transat upgraded our seats to include the Options Plus option for the adults in our party. We still paid for the seats ourselves and were seated in economy although we felt so spoiled and comfortable for the almost 4-hour flight each way thanks to the upgrades that the Options Plus gave us.

Air Transat Kids Club is a MUST

First of all, if you have kids 11-and-under you need to sign them up for the FREE Air Transat Kids Club. This was recommended to us both by Yashi of Baby and Life blog and the staff at Air Transat. It offers:

  •  member’s kit filled with cool travel goodies
  • Free seat selection for members on their roundtrip flights (certain conditions may apply, based on company policy)
  • Family check-in counter for speedier service (available at main airports)
  • Preboarding for members and their families, in Economy Class
  • On-board surprises to make air travel fun
  • Priority baggage handling
  • Stroller gate delivery service
  • And much more!

When we signed up the kids each got a package from Air Transat with name tags, luggage tags, some colouring stuff and coupons for treats on the plane. This really helped to get them excited for the trip and the name tags made sure the kids got treated like gold.

Once we got on the plane the kids got yet another package from the flight attendants with colouring books, crayons, headphones and other goodies. It really made keeping them entertained for the 4 hours so easy and I couldn’t have had a better time.

I really love that the Kid’s Club gives the whole family preboarding and its own exclusive check-in plus seat selection all for FREE. You can head on over here to sign up for free for your kids.

Options Plus

We flew the A-330 out of Toronto and it was a gorgeous plane. Even with being in economy we didn’t feel like we were travelling cheap and so pleasantly surprised with the touchscreen entertainment portal on each headrest. It made me regret bringing each of the kids their own devices because they had so many options at the touch of their fingertips.

Music, shows, movies, and games were in full play before we even took off the runway. When we were landing my usually super-anxious self would have been doing breathing exercises but I was busy playing Sudoku against my dad one row back (you can play against different passengers) and not even caring. That is the sign of a great flight when I don’t even care about the landing.

I am going to take you back to before we even got on the plane though because I want to talk about the perks you get. Options Plus gives each person 1 extra piece of checked baggage of 23 kg included, for flights to/from Europe, the South and the United States, when travelling in Eco Budget fare class*. It also gives you priority services, boarding and even an exclusive check-in counter at the airport.

Our luggage was tagged with priority tags and although we didn’t choose our seats (I think our travel agent did because we were a group of 11), seat selection is offered.

Once we got on board we were quickly settled into our seats and received a wonderful comfort kit with blankets, neck pillow, eye covers, and natural wood earbuds. Options Plus members also get a free alcoholic beverage and selection of meals from the Bistro menu on flights to/from the South and the United States; a selection of treats on flights to/from Europe.

Everyone in our party was so happy with our flight and the service we received and it was such a great way to start our vacation. We are flying Air Transat again in May when we go back to Mexico and I can’t wait.

Long story short, if you are booking a vacation in the future and have options I would suggest you give the flying Air Transat option a thought. We flew 6 months ago with a competitor and the difference in standard was astounding.

Let me know somewhere you would love to travel to! I have a serious case of long overdue wonder lust.

I used to always fly with Air Transat, until this year. They stopped the direct flights to Manchester, England and I found the long wait in between flights to be absolutely horrific. 6 hours at Toronto airport was no fun at all! I’m flying again soon to Germany and I have made sure I fly direct this means with a different company, a shame as I enjoyed flying with Air Transat.

I’ve never flown Air Transat… A lot of people have told me bad things, but I did not know they had a Kids Club. Will have to research them further.

My experience with Air Transat was much better than their competitors. I paid for my my upgrade but not for my initial seats. Made me feel special and important.

I think the kids club is a great idea! I have two young children who have a hard time sitting still and being patient so allowing them to have earphones, crayons and snacks really helps!

It has been a really long time since I have flown with Air Transat. It seems like they have really stepped up their game. I am going to definitely consider going with them the next time that we book a vacation.
