As much as I love having the latest and greatest technology I am also not going to spend $1000+ dollars to upgrade my current DSLR to be WiFi compatible. It was during a talk with a girlfriend about how we were working to improve our photography skills that she let me know that you could add WiFi to any camera with a WiFi SD card.

Phone Photos VS DSLR Photos

I much prefer the quality of my Canon Rebel SL1 over the quality of my Google Pixel 2, even though the phone does take amazing pictures. I currently have to take pictures, wait until I get home to plug the camera into my computer, upload photos to the computer, edit photos, and then upload to my blog or social.

Ain’t nobody got time for all that and I wanted to be able to not skimp on quality in order to post timely content so I am SO glad my friend brought the WiFi SD card to my attention.

How Does a WiFi SD Card Work?

A WiFi SD card is a memory card that wirelessly transfers the photos from your camera to your phone. Forget all the steps that I listed above and welcome to the future unless you already knew about this magic and failed to share with me – shame on you.

Is a WiFi SD Card Expensive?

Compared to getting a new camera?  It is very inexpensive. I purchased my 32 GB SDHC Class 10 Memory Card for under $47 and free one-day shipping with Amazon Prime. You can get the 16 GB option for under $43 or the 64 GB for under $69. All-in-all I feel like in today’s tech-fueled and visual world having the ability to upload good quality images is worth the price of the WiFi SD card.

Will It Work on Any Camera?

It is my understanding that if your camera takes an SD card you can easily swap out the WiFi SD card for the one you are using now. You need to install an app on your phone for your camera to send all your photos to but that is all.

Where to Buy Your WiFi SD Card

You can buy a WiFi SD card at any camera store and your local electronics store may carry them as well. I purchased mine off of Amazon as it was at my door the next day and I didn’t even have to get dressed. This is the brand I purchased and I am enjoying the quality.

Tried this once, but it seemed painful to keep up. Take pictures outside the house and then have to keep the camera powered up once you get home so the pictures will transfer.
