Breville Hemisphere Twist: Enjoying Summer

hemisphere twist

hemisphere twistSummer is officially in full swing and with summer brings ice cold drinks and an emphasis on getting healthy. I for one have taken up a routine of having a smoothie in the morning because in the hustle and bustle of taking care of 4 little people I usually forget to take care of myself.

Breakfast is the most important meal and although the kids get a wide array of goodies I have been trying to watch what I am consuming and this creamy banana smoothie with cocoa nibs and flax has been my go to. Not only is it full of vitamins and minerals it satisfies my sweet tooth so I am not dipping into snacks from the moment I wake up.

I have been using the Breville Hemisphere Twist to make up my concoction and I couldn’t be more impressed with the results. Breville is top of the line when it comes to small appliances and they really live up to the high standards I have put on them with the Hemishere Twist.hemisphere twist

the Hemisphere Twist

The Hemisphere Twist is Breville’s new blender. It comes with multiple lid options, a beautiful design and made with Eastman Tritan copolyester, a BPA-free polymer that is tough and will survive our family.

I have purchased close to a dozen blenders in the past 8 years and I can list off my complaints easily.

  • The blade comes off of the jug causing me to either spend hours looking for it or just buying a new machine.
  • The jug leaks when it’s in multiple pieces
  • The blades don’t catch all of the food and I have to keep stopping and scraping the jar.
  • The blades are not sharp enough to break down the items I want to blend.
  • The glass jugs break.
  • The design of the machine is not aesthetically pleasing so it is hidden in my cupboards where I forget I own it.

The Hemisphere Twist has solved all of my “issues” with my previous blenders PLUS has given me a great citrus cone where I can make fresh mojitos without searching for yet another appliance. I found a great recipe for blender mojitos here.

The Blades & Bowl

There are 5 blades in the Hemisphere twist and the 3 central ones are serated, whick means everything from fresh tomatoes to ice gets chopped up. The jug bowl is shaped in a way that no food gets stuck and the blades help make the Hemisphere motion. The jug is shatter proof, dishwasher safe and for the win: BPA free.hemisphere twist

Functions

The blender offers you 4 main functions from slow mix to a high speed liquefy but my favourite is the smoothie function, which is also the auto clean. I put all of my ingredients in put the blender on and press “smoothie”. It does its work for one minute and then automatically shuts off. Perfect for the busy mom that can spend that minute tidying up. After pouring into my cup I just put in some warm soapy water and turn the “auto clean” button to get the blender clean and ready for a quick rinse.

There is also the “pulse” option that is perfect for processing foods and just generally moving food around as it is a quick, strong burst of power.

The Lids

The Breville Assist lid comes with two options:

  • Inner measuring cap which can be removed to add more ingredients and also used as a measuring cup
  • Citrus cone which allows you to juice citrus right into the blender. It can be moved into either the juice or blend function which protects you from spray.

I love the way the Hemisphere Twist from Breville looks and it is used throughout the day from my morning smoothie, lunch time slushies for the kids and for when the kids go to sleep we like to blend up a batch of “adult” drinks that help us unwind from the day.

If you are interested in learning more about the Hemisphere Twist of any of Breville’s appliances you can do so here. Make sure you connect with them on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to hear about their products.

As for me, I am heading out to buy some rum and fresh mint to go with the 3 dozen limes in my fridge for the long weekend, CHEERS!

I’ve gone nuts with my blender this summer: smoothies, cocktails, milk shakes, etc. Love it! I can make an entire meal in the blender and still feel good about it.
